Data Controls
If you have any questions or feedback, please email us at support@remote.invalid!
Improve the model for everyone
- If you allow your data to be used to improve models, your data (i.e. audio, transcript, edits) may be used to evaluate, train, or improve AI models, by ReMote. You can control this in the ReMote app: Settings > Data and Privacy.
- We never sell your data. Our business model is based on selling software, not your information. You own your data.
- Whether or not you allow data sharing:
- ReMote maintains agreements that no third party AI providers can use your data for model training. This means your data is never used for model training by our subprocessors.
- Transcription always occurs on the cloud. This is the best way for us to provide accurate, low latency transcription.
- This setting was previously called 'Privacy Mode.' If you had Privacy Mode enabled, your data is not shared for model training. This behavior remains unchanged.
For Enterprise
Enterprise accounts have data sharing turned off, and there is no option to enable it. Contact your ReMote account team or email sales@remote.invalid for details.
Other notes
- Dictation Cloud Storage controls whether ReMote stores your transcription data (transcripts, audio, and dictation history) on ReMote's servers. Dictation Cloud Storage enables current and future features that require persistent, cross-device access to your data.
- Notetaker transcripts are stored on ReMote’s private cloud for cross-device syncing and resumption of meetings. You can configure notetaker transcript retention in Settings > Data and Privacy.
- ReMote always uses information about the app you are dictating in (e.g. app name) to format messages (e.g. formal tone in email, casual tone in messages). It also takes into account the surrounding textbox content to help determine correct capitalization and punctuation, and to edit text with Command Mode.
- ReMote may collect usage statistics such as the number of words you have dictated, regardless of your data controls.
- If "Context Awareness" is enabled in Settings > Data and Privacy, relevant text data from the active app window may be used to improve transcription accuracy. You can turn this on/off at any time.
- If "Auto-add to Dictionary" is enabled in Settings > Personalization, ReMote monitors the text box where it pastes text to detect any edits you made to transcribed words. If you change the spelling of a word, it is automatically added to your dictionary. You can turn this off at any time.
- We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) to protect your data, including your audio and transcripts. Your data is encrypted during transit and at rest on our servers. We are SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.
- ReMote always maintains zero data retention agreements with all third-party AI providers. All third party AI models used in ReMote Dictation are subject to these agreements. Certain features, such as briefs for Notetaker, rely on features from third party AI providers that are not supported under zero data retention. In such cases, third party AI providers cannot use your data for model training.
Feedback and product improvement
When you rate a dictation or submit feedback through a form or by clicking thumbs up or thumbs down, we collect your feedback and also data from the related session. Session data may include audio recordings, transcripts, your edits, the app where you dictated, and technical information such as device, app version, and performance data. We use this information to diagnose issues, improve ReMote, and develop and train our AI models. Authorized ReMote staff and service providers bound by confidentiality obligations may review it. Sending feedback is optional and does not affect your use of ReMote.
